Meet the Dentists


Dr. Erin Gaither
Dr. Erin Gaither has been providing outstanding orthodontic care since 1997. She received her dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she completed her orthodontic specialty training. Dr. Gaither is committed to continuing education, and maintains memberships with such professional organizations as the Amercian Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Alabama Orthodontic Alumni Foundation and the Birmingham District Dental Society. She and her husband, Brad, reside in the Inverness area with their two children, Blair and Alex. Dr. Gaither is dedicated to providing her patients with the highest level of orthodontic care available..
 
 

 

Dr. Kasey Ficken
Was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Oak Grove, a small town in Jefferson County. She received her undergraduate training from the University of Montevallo and attended the University of Alabama School of Denistry for her Dental Degree. She is a member of the American Dental Association, The Alabama Dental Association and American Association of Women Dentists. She enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and dogs. Dr. Ficken loves meeting new people and enjoys the relationships she gets to build with patients through dentistry.

 

Alan D. Yount, D.M.D.

Dr. Yount graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a BS in Biology, emphasizing microbiology, a chemistry minor, and undeclared minors in English and accounting in 1981.

He then started dental school at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry graduating in 1985.  He was involved in a practice in north Alabama for 2 years before joining the United States Army as a Captain in 1987.  There he served not only in the dental corps, but also as one of only 3 dentists in the First Cavalry Division and spent time in South America, (in one 6 day mission removed 850 teeth in Paraguay), and deployed for Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  Dr. Yount left the Army in 1991 as a Captain promotable to Major and a combat veteran. 

In 1984 Dr. Yount married Cynthia Nisi who has a BS in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  They have 2 children:  Nicholas is a senior in Biosystems engineering and Alexandra is a Sophomore in marketing, both at Auburn University.  Cynthia is currently the nurse for East Alabama Mental Health.  In the past, she was the Director of Nursing for 2 different nursing homes.

Dr. Yount has been with The Dental Office, Inc. working each Wednesday and some Saturday’s for the last year.   He currently has a practice in Alexander City.  Dr. Yount’s post graduate continuing education has included major courses from the Center for Advance Dental Studies in St. Petersburg, Florida  as well as advanced training in dentures from Dr. Walter (Jack) Turbyfil.  Dr. Yount is also currently pursuing his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and should complete it in the next 2 years.
 
Dr. Yount will happily bend your ear on subjects from his days growing up on a cattle farm to logging to heavy equipment operation to the military and he still retains his Residential General Contractors license among many other interests.

 

Dr. Julie Smith

Dr. Julie Smith grew up in Gadsden, Alabama.  She received a B.S. degree in Biology-Psychology from Birmingham-Southern College and received her dental degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She is licensed by the Dental Board of Alabama.  She is a member of the Birmingham District Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Alabama Dental Association. Dr. Smith and her husband, Lance, live in Birmingham with their dog, Savannah.  Away from the office, Dr. Smith enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Amy Swiney, D.M.D.

Dr. Swiney was born and raised in Birmingham Alabama. She received her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University and her dental degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Dr. Swiney is a member of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry Alumni Association and is a recipient of the Delta Dental Award for Outstanding Leadership. She resides in Birmingham with her husband, Vincent, and their two daughters.

 

Jon Mann, D.M.D.

Dr. Mann was born and raised in Jasper, Alabama, a small town north of Birmingham. Dr. Mann graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1994. He attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry graduating in 1998. He was in practice in Missouri for 11 years before joining the dental office, inc. in 2009. Dr. Mann has four children who attend school in the Leeds school district. They are involved in athletics at the school and with the Youth Association. Dr. Mann enjoys hunting, fishing, softball and Alabama sports in his spare time.

 

Dr. Trey Rosdick

Dr. Trey Rosdick is a native of Birmingham, AL and has lived in Vestavia Hills his entire life. He attended Vestavia Hills High School and then went to Birmingham-Southern College for undergrad. After completing Dental School at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Rosdick honed his skills during his residency at the UAB VA hospital, as well as with other dentists during his associateships. He and his team strive to provide the best possible treatment in the most comfortable atmosphere to give his patients an amazing smile and plenty of self-confidence. Outside of work, Dr. Rosdick enjoys spending time with his family and friends whether its on the golf course or cooking out. Some other hobbies include keeping up with the NFL (especially the Chargers), staying fit, playing tons of golf and charcoal drawing.
